THE GANGRENE FILM FESTIVAL BACK FOR A 6TH ROMP

GANGRENE PRODUCTIONS, a Utah based film production company, being enthusiastic supporters of the local film making underground, is hosting the sixth installment of their film festival, THE GANGRENE FILM FESTIVAL.  “The fest is more than just the run-of-the-mill, sit and watch variety.”  Says Craig Nybo (one of the festival directors).  “We go for total entertainment.  Last year Nate Peck, (host) graced the stage accompanied by a troop of cloggars.  It was a pyrotechnetic comic buzz machine--hilarious.”

“We have big plans for Gangrene: Six-pack.”  Says Craig.  “There is always a theme.  This year we are going for Billy-Jack paradise.  Everything’s going to be washtub thumpin’ and crazy.  Our sole goal is to make the audience laugh.  We’re not looking for chuckles, we want stitches and aneurysms.”

The festival is divided into 2 sessions (both held on the same night); the general audience session will be at 8:30 PM and the late session at 11:00 PM.  The general audience session features probable PG rated comedy, short films. “We look for stuff with high concept and an alternative feel.”  Says Larry Nybo (festival founder),  “The general audience films are free of objectionable content; but definitely alternative--a bit on the strange side--that’s what we like.”

Along with the 8:30 P.M. general audience session, the festival will feature a late session, which will begin at 11:00 PM.  This session is reserved for the edgier material.  “Late session films tend to be more violent, but profanity and sexual content is still kept to a minimum.”  Says Craig.

THE GANGRENE FILM FESTIVAL:  SIX-PACK promises to be the greatest installment yet.  It will feature host and comedian, Nate Peck, live bluegrass music and a huge wiz-bang of other bells and whistles.  The festival will feature the work of local directors: Craig and Larry Nybo, Mike Terrell, Jason DeVilliers, Denver Robbins and many more.

The festival will begin on Friday, September 9th at 8:30.  The venue is the Ed Kenley Amphitheater at the North-Eastern end of Layton Park.  400 North Wasatch Dr., Layton.  The cost to get in is $7.00 for both sessions.  More information can be found at www.gangreneproductions.com.

About Gangrene Productions

Gangrene Productions is a group of life-long friends who began making films in their back yards with a barrowed video camera in the early 80’s.  Among the core of Gangrene Productions are Craig and Larry Nybo, Nate Peck, Mike Terrell and Denver Robbins.

They are currently hard at work on their first feature length film, a thriller about a group of would-be ghost hunters who find more than they bargained for in an old house reputed to be haunted.  The film is called GABRIELLA SLEEPS and is due to be finished mid-summer of 2006.
